Secrets All Inclusive Resort Guide for Booking on Points

Secrets Resorts are a part of the Hyatt All-Inclusive Collection. This means you can book any Secrets All-Inclusive resort with World of Hyatt points. In this blog post, I will use Secrets Maroma Beach as my example, but know it will be the same process for booking any Secrets Resorts.

How many points does it take? Can I use points for any room type? Can I apply awards to my stay? I will answer all of these questions and more below!

World of Hyatt Points

Hyatt points are a favorite among many travelers because there are several ways to earn points. My favorite way is to use a Chase credit card like Chase Sapphire Preferred, that earns Ultimate Rewards and then transfer them to Hyatt. The transfer rate is a 1:1 ratio, which makes redemptions very easy.

I have a blog post on all the benefits of the Chase Sapphire Preferred card here! World of Hyatt also has a co-branded credit card that earns Hyatt points with every dollar you spend.

Secrets Maroma booking process is pretty easy to navigate. First, you will want to check for availability. You will need to visit their site, https://www.hyatt.com and search for the hotel or resort you want to stay at. From this screen, you will see the Points Calendar option, the resort website, and the category.

Categories

Hyatt uses an award chart to determine the number of points you’ll need for a night. The higher the category, the more points it will be. All-inclusive properties fall under categories A-F. Secrets Maroma Beach is a category E property, which means you will be paying anywhere from 35,000(off-peak) to 45,000(peak) points per night for a standard room. This just increased in 2025!

The point values will not change unless the resort moves to a different category. Hyatt does a reevaluation of all their hotels once a year in March. They let you know about a month in advance what hotels are changing categories so you can book it before the rate goes up.

Points Calendar

Hyatt has a Points Calendar view when booking a property. You can select the month you want to travel, and they will tell you how many points it will be each night. I love this feature on their website! It allows you to see 13 months in advance how many points you will need for your stay.

Unfortunately, Hyatt’s points calendar doesn’t show real-time availability, it just indicates which nights would be off-peak, standard, and peak. The earlier you can book your stay, the better chance you have at booking your preferred room type on points.

Room Types

Once you hit “Check Availability”, make sure you have the correct number of guests and your dates, then you check the box “Use Points”. This will take you to a screen where you will need to choose your room type.

Another perk of this resort is that all the rooms are considered suites, they just have different views. Tropical, Partial Ocean, Ocean views, and Swim Out are the choices you will see available, along with a King or Double bed.

You will see a separate tab for club-level rooms. These rooms will give you access to the preferred club and the room location is usually closer to the beach, which means a better view!

You’ll also notice club level rooms start at 45,000 points because they give you those extra benefits.

As long as the room type shows up with a points amount, this is a good sign it is available for redemption. You may notice some rooms do not show up and this means there is no availability for the dates you selected. If there are no rooms available for point redemption, you will see this message below.

Awards

If you have any awards in your Hyatt account, such as a Club Access or Guest of Honor, you can apply them to your reservation when booking. If you receive the award after you book, you can also apply it after the booking by calling Hyatt or using their chat feature!

We were gifted a Guest of Honor award after our booking, so I reached out to Hyatt via the chat feature on the app, and they were able to apply the award to our existing reservation. Once your reservation gets closer to the time of arrival, I always email the hotel and verify my award was applied to my reservation. This is also a good time to see if a room upgrade is available if you qualify.

Check out this post to see all the benefits we received with our Guest of Honor award!

Booking Process

Once you hit Select & Book, it will take you to a page where it summarizes the room type and number of points needed to book. You will need to sign into your Hyatt account if you haven’t already. This is the step that will check if you have enough points in your account to book this property.

Once you are signed in and have enough points to book, you can complete the booking. You should see the points deducted from your account right away once your booking is confirmed.

Cancellation

The cancellation policy is the same whether you book with points or cash. Their policy is if you cancel within 3 days of arrival or do not check in on your arrival date, you will incur a penalty of the cost of one night’s stay. If you cancel 4 days or more before your reservation, you will receive your money or points back.

Final Thoughts

Hyatt is arguably one of the best hotel loyalty programs if you become familiar with it. Booking a Secrets all-inclusive resort is one of the best and easiest ways to use your points! I love how they let you know in advance how many points you need, and that doesn’t change all year! The process for earning and redeeming points is pretty straightforward, especially with the credit card strategy.

Soon enough you will be getting approved for a new credit card and earning points for your next FREE Secrets all-inclusive resort vacation!
